Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)

Location: Lafayette, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 8 weeks


Job Description

  • Upon starting, you may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay at the facility until the event passes or be part of the relief team.
  • Floating required to all inpatient units.
  • Must work every other holiday and every other weekend.
  • Block scheduling is not accommodated on this unit.
  • First-time travelers are not accepted.
  • Minimum experience required: 2 years or more in specialty.

Specialty

  • Registered Nurse (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
  • Special equipment used: Cardiac drips

Required Qualifications

  • Active Louisiana RN license or Compact RN license.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only, RQI accepted).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required for charge nurses (AHA only, RQI accepted).
  • Must meet all state and facility licensing requirements.
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required.
  • Prior travel experience is not required.

Scheduling & Work Requirements

  • Must work every other holiday and every other weekend.
  • Floating to all inpatient units required.
  • No block scheduling on this unit.

Certifications & Training

  • BLS and ACLS certifications required (see above).
  • Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment (verify with program management if unclear).

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
  • Education verification of highest level required if no state license.
  • Sex offender search required within 30 days of start and updated monthly.
  • NURSYS license verification required within 30 days of start.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start.
  • Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health.
  • Fit mask testing (N95) within one year of start; onsite fit testing available if needed.
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or proof of immunity for:
    • TB (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 12 months)
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Tdap (for select units)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30).

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be comfortable with emergency event assignments as described.
  • Photo for badge required within 24 hours of booking (passport-style, recent, plain background).
  • Skills checklist and employment application required, including 7 years of employment history and explanation of gaps.

This position is ideal for experienced RNs with at least 2 years in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing who are comfortable with flexible inpatient assignments and emergency response duties.
