Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (MS/Tele)
Location: Lafayette, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Unit & Patient Care Details
Unit: MedTele, Post Cath, Cardiac drips
Patient Diagnoses include:
- Chest pain, CAD, Diabetes Mellitus, PVD, COPD exacerbation, COVID+, TIA, stroke, hypertension, atrial fibrillation/flutter, bradycardia, tachycardia
- Rhythm management with cardiac drips (not titrated for blood pressure)
- Wound infection, cellulitis, GI bleed
Special Procedures/Unit Details:
- Pre & post angiogram/angioplasty (no sheath pulls)
- Pacemaker (PPM)/AICD, LINQ recorder
- General surgical procedures: EGD, colonoscopy, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, wound debridement
- Chest tube, central line catheter insertions, thoracentesis, paracentesis
Special Equipment:
- Telemetry monitoring, chest tubes, wound vacs
Requirements
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of acute care experience
- Telemetry experience
- Ability to interpret and manage dysrhythmias
- Unit accepts first-time travelers
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Certifications & Licenses
- Required:
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana or Compact License
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only (RQI accepted)
- Preferred:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH certification
Additional Notes
- Upon assignment acceptance, nurses may be assigned to an "Emergency Team" with expectations to stay onsite during emergency events or be part of relief teams. Candidates must be comfortable with this requirement.
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Current/valid Driver’s License or government photo ID (color copy)
- 7-year Criminal Background Check within 90 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education verification of highest level completed (if no state license)
- Sex Offender Search within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- License verification within 30 days of start; renewal must be completed prior to start if expiring soon
- NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
- Physical exam within 12 months indicating good health
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start, updated annually
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (for select units)
- TB test (PPD, Qgold, or Tspot) within 12 months, updated annually
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella immunity or vaccination documentation
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30)
- Skills checklist and competency exam specific to specialty, updated annually
- Photo for badge (passport-style, recent, color)

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Registered Nurse with acute care and telemetry skills. The role involves caring for cardiac and medically complex patients in a MedTele/Post Cath unit with exposure to various cardiac and surgical procedures. Candidates must be prepared for potential emergency team assignments and meet comprehensive compliance and certification requirements. Prior travel experience is not required.
