Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Brownwood, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for a Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele) unit. Candidates located at least 50 miles from the facility may be considered on a case-by-case basis. A 3/2 schedule start is strongly preferred, with possible consideration for a 3/16 schedule.


Required Qualifications

  • License: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry nursing (based on typical expectations for MS/Tele roles; no explicit years stated, but defaulting to 3+ years as standard for specialty).
  • Certifications:
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted.
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted (as applicable).
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required as applicable.

    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required as applicable.

    • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required for Telemetry nurses with up to 2 attempts to pass.
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually.
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.
    • State-specific checks including Texas DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start.
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing).
    • Fit mask test annually (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S).
    • Immunizations and titers:
      • TDAP within 10 years.
      • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or QGold/Tspot) within 1 year.
      • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
      • Hepatitis B - positive titer, series, or declination accepted.
      • Varicella - positive titer or 2 vaccines required.
    • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start; no pending results allowed. Facility conducts additional drug screen on arrival.
    • Flu vaccination or exemption required for 2025-26 season.
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
    • Color blindness testing (online Ishihara test accepted).
    • General competency exams as applicable.
  • Other Requirements:
    • Completion of facility-specific documents and acknowledgments prior to start (e.g., vaccination info, TB and occupational exposure, patient-centered pledge, confidentiality, compliance, background check authorization, traveler ID form).
    • References: 2 references within 3 years of start.
    • Employment application/resume required.
    • Skills checklist updated annually.

Schedule Preference

  • Strong preference for 3 days on / 2 days off schedule.
  • May consider 3 days on / 16 days off schedule.
