Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Nashua, New Hampshire
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position: Med-Surg/Telemetry RN for Float Pool
  • Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (EOW)
  • Unit: 6-bed observation unit to manage increased patient census and alleviate ED holds
  • May float to Med-Surg units

Patient Population & Unit Details

  • Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac, Respiratory, Post-STEMI Cath, Stroke
  • Patient Age Group: Adults, Geriatrics
  • Average Daily Census: 30 patients
  • Patient Ratio: 1:5
  • Rooms/Beds: 30
  • Special Procedures:
    • Dialysis (performed by dialysis RN; unit RN cares post-dialysis)
    • CAPD (performed by CAPD trained RNs)

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum Specialty Experience: 2 years in Med-Surg telemetry (critical care or progressive care experience highly valuable)
  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Epic charting experience required
  • Charge nurse experience preferred
  • Telemetry skills required, including:
    • Use of calipers
    • Interpretation of various rhythms (sinus rhythms, arrhythmias, blocks, paced rhythms, life-threatening arrhythmias)
    • Telemetry exam on arrival (closed book, proctored, 60-minute time limit)

Certifications & Licenses

  • Required Certifications:
    • ACLS (AHA provider only)
    • BCLS (AHA provider only)
  • License: Valid RN license for New Hampshire

Documentation & Systems

  • Medication System: Pyxis
  • Documentation System: Epic
  • Communication: SBAR

Required Qualifications & Compliance

  • Background check within 30 days of start (includes Social Security verification, criminal searches, education verification, etc.)
  • Drug screen (10-panel) within 14 days prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year prior to start
  • Annual fit mask test required
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tdap (within last 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (True 2-Step PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella immunity or vaccination
    • Hepatitis B immunity or declination waiver
    • Varicella immunity or vaccination
    • Seasonal flu vaccination required (with medical or religious exemptions allowed)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance required
  • Two current professional references within last 3 years (one must be from a supervisor or charge nurse)
  • Skills checklist and competency exams required, including:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (pass/fail within 48 hours of contract signing)
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG/medication awareness required onsite
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (OSHA education) required
  • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification preferred
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification preferred

Additional Notes

  • Travelers who have previously worked for the associated health system are not eligible regardless of separation length
  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position

This position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic telemetry float pool with a focus on cardiac and progressive care patients, requiring strong telemetry skills and critical thinking in a fast-paced environment.
