Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lexington, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work 3-4 weekend shifts per month (Friday or Saturday night)
- Strong Neuro experience required
- Responsibilities include:
- Airway management
- Management of vented patients
- Artline management (preferred for ER)
- Management of dysrhythmias
- Central line management
- Management of IV drips
- Isolation precautions
- Triage skills (ER/ER Holding only)
- Computerized documentation
- Nurse to patient ratios 1:1-2+
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Interpretation of ABGs and dysrhythmias
- Continuous IV sedation and titration of IV vasopressors
- Management of patients with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
- Experience with fempops, CEAs, post thoracic surgeries, post craniotomies, neurosurgeries
- Minimum 1.5+ years of recent ICU experience
- Prior travel experience required
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license valid in Kentucky
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year of start)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only)
- Nursys verification required for RN license
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (basic or advanced depending on unit)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (clinical candidates only)
- Fit mask test (annual)
- Required immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or titer
- Varicella vaccination or titer
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required during flu season)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption
- Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Background checks including 7-year criminal check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
- Education verification matching specialty required prior to start
- 2 professional references required
Additional Information
- Badge photo required (head and shoulders, solid light background, no filters or edits)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required and must be updated annually
- Performance evaluations will be completed by unit managers after start
- Work history verification may be required if background check reveals issues
This position is ideal for ICU RNs with strong neurological experience and prior travel contract experience looking for a 13-week travel assignment in Kentucky.
