Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position: Registered Nurse in Main Operating Room
• Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
• Schedule: Likely Monday, Tuesday, Thursday with call and late days as required
• Surgical specialties include Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma
• Craniotomy and burr hole experience are required

Required Qualifications

• License: Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas
• Experience: Minimum years of specialty experience not explicitly stated; assume at least 1+ years OR based on craniotomy and burr hole experience (implied advanced OR skills)
• Certifications:

  • ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
  • BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
  • PALS (as applicable)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation, as applicable)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course, as applicable)
  • CHEMO (as applicable)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring, as applicable)
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, as applicable)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
  • Pass/Fail Testing for Telemetry RNs (if applicable)
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • State-specific checks including Texas DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations including:

    • TDAP within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or Qgold/Tspot) within 1 year
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if titer negative/equivocal
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine (required Oct 1 - Mar 31; exemptions accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start (no pending results allowed)
• Competencies:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test acceptable)
  • Skills checklist updated annually
• References: Two references required within 3 years of start
• Employment Application: Resume/application required

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position.
