Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Position: Registered Nurse in Main Operating Room
- Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
- Schedule: Likely Monday, Tuesday, Thursday with call and late days as required
- Surgical specialties include Neuro/Spine, Ortho/Trauma, General/Robotics/Trauma
- Craniotomy and burr hole experience are required
Required Qualifications
- License: Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Texas
- Experience: Minimum years of specialty experience not explicitly stated; assume at least 1+ years OR based on craniotomy and burr hole experience (implied advanced OR skills)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA Instructor, Provider, or RQI acceptable)
- PALS (as applicable)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation, as applicable)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course, as applicable)
- CHEMO (as applicable)
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring, as applicable)
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course, as applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (as applicable)
- Pass/Fail Testing for Telemetry RNs (if applicable)
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- State-specific checks including Texas DADS Employability Status and Employee Misconduct Registry within 30 days of start
- Health Requirements:
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Fit mask (3M 1860 Regular or 1860S), updated annually
- Immunizations/vaccinations including:
- TDAP within 10 years
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD or Qgold/Tspot) within 1 year
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; boosters if titers negative/equivocal
- Hepatitis B: Positive titer, series, or declination accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; booster if titer negative/equivocal
- Seasonal Flu Vaccine (required Oct 1 - Mar 31; exemptions accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen with THC within 10 business days prior to start (no pending results allowed)
- Competencies:
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
- Color Blind Testing (online Ishihara test acceptable)
- Skills checklist updated annually
- References: Two references required within 3 years of start
- Employment Application: Resume/application required
