Job Description

• Weekend and holidays required
• No on-call duties
• Must be certified
• Must have labor and delivery experience

Required Qualifications

• Certification as a Surgical Tech (CST)
• Labor and Delivery experience required
• Must meet all licensure and certification requirements for Surgical Techs in Texas

Required Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA or ARC accepted at start; must renew with AHA only
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – Required for OR and related units
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required for Labor & Delivery
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – Required for Labor & Delivery
• Other certifications may be required depending on unit specifics; verify with job description

Required Background and Health Documents

• 7-year background check including county criminal search for all locations lived/worked in last 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test (TSpot or QGold) within 12 months; annual updates required
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (vaccine series and/or positive titer or signed declination)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 30 days of start

Competency Exams and Testing

• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam – must pass with 80% or higher; two attempts allowed
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – required for certain units; two attempts allowed
• Pass/Fail testing required for all RNs and Cath Lab Techs; may apply depending on unit

Additional Requirements

• Valid government-issued photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, or passport) matching all documentation
• Photo for badge (passport style) required
• Two professional references within 3 years of hire required
