Job Opportunity: CVICU Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract
Location: Florence, South Carolina
Contract Length: 11 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 PM - 7 AM, nights)
- Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Holiday Rotation: Yes
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, may float within scope to like units/sister facilities
Required Qualifications
- License: South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be active prior to start
- Certifications:
- ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC only)
- BLS (American Heart Association or ARC only)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years preferred in specialty (Cardiac and Neuro experience required)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not accepted for first-time travelers (prior travel experience required)

Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block schedule accommodation possible but not guaranteed
- No local travelers accepted (must be traveling)
- Local radius: 60 miles
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, international searches
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education Verification: Diploma or transcripts preferred but not required if education verification is complete
- References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
- Performance Evaluation: Must be dated within 12 months of start
- Work History Verification: Last 3 clinical employers verified (not required for this facility)
- Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands
- Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
- Immunizations & Health Requirements:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if positive
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines with boosters if low titer
- Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- COVID vaccines not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
- Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required for respirator use
- Radiation Badge: Required only if working in OR, Cath Lab, EP Lab, or Radiology (not required for this role)
Orientation & Facility Specifics
- Completion of orientation modules (approx. 4 hours) prior to start is mandatory
- Clear, passport-style photo required for badge
- Signed acknowledgments for assignment, code of conduct, confidentiality, HR policies, system user agreements, and job description required before start
- Upload COVID and flu vaccination documentation into facility system
Additional Notes
- Floating expectations are the same as current staff nurses; agency staff will float first
- Block schedule requests require prior approval
- Facility allows calling off 1 shift every 2 weeks
- No local hires accepted; must be traveling nurse
This position is ideal for experienced CVICU RNs with cardiac and neuro experience who have prior travel contract experience and hold a valid South Carolina or Compact RN license. Night shift and weekend work with holiday rotation are required.
