Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (MedSurg)

Location: Mullins, South Carolina
Contract Length: 6 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Medical Surgical Registered Nurse (MedSurg RN)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7 AM - 7 PM, Days)
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 6-7 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, including holiday rotation
• On-call: Not required
• Floating: Required to float within scope to like units or sister facilities

Required Qualifications

• Experience: Minimum 1 year of MedSurg nursing experience
• Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
• Licensure: South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be active and in hand prior to start
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only, must be current (not expiring within 30 days of start)

Additional Requirements

• Background check including 7 years of history, national and state criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
• Primary source verification of SC RN license (NURSYS verification required)
• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
• Performance evaluation dated within 12 months of start
• Complete employment application/resume
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Physical exam: Initial and updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
• Immunizations and health screenings:

  • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if positive
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination form
  • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30), medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
  • COVID vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
• Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
• Clear, passport-style photo for badge
• Compliance with facility code of conduct, confidentiality agreements, and other HR policies

Work Environment & Notes

• Facility has 28 inpatient beds
• Charting system: Epic
• Free parking available
• Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation; travelers should consider this before accepting new or extended assignments
• Locals are not accepted for this position
• Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

This position is ideal for a MedSurg RN with at least 1 year of experience, who is flexible with floating and weekend shifts, and is ready for a 6-week travel assignment in South Carolina.
