Job Opportunity: PCU/Oncology Registered Nurse
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Must have oncology experience.
- Sickle cell experience and chemo certification preferred but not required.
- No block schedule.
- Options for 36 or 48 hour shifts; 18 or 20 week contracts also available.
- Must have documented 1:5 patient ratio experience in Stepdown (SD) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in work history; ICU experience does NOT count toward SD/PCU experience.
- Targeted patient ratios are 1:4, can be up to 1:5-6.
- Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units.
- Must have EPIC electronic health record experience.
- Must pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting.
- BLS & ACLS required; must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
- Nurses will be fitted for N95 masks prior to working on the High-Risk Respiratory Unit (HRRU) unless PAPR is offered/needed.
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience preferred, with some level 1 or 2 experience preferred.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required.
- Floating assignments may include multiple campuses within 15 miles.
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
Unit Details
- 35-bed medical and radiation oncology unit specializing in oncology and hematology patients.
- Mixed acuity: Med Surg and Advanced Care patients.
- Frequent use of blood products and chemotherapy administration.
- Skills required include drips, PCA pumps, wound care, and more.
- RNs with ONS certification administer chemotherapy.
- Navy blue scrubs required.
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse license in Ohio (primary source verification required).
- BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA only, current and valid).
- EPIC experience.
- Ability to pass EKG tele competency exam prior to start.
- Must be able to float to various units including high-risk respiratory/COVID units.
- Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness to work and free of communicable diseases.
- Negative drug screen (9 or 10 panel including marijuana) within 12 months.
- Required immunizations and health documents including:
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray (annual update if past positive).
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season.
- Proof of immunity or vaccination for measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, hepatitis B.
- Pass background checks including 7-year criminal background check, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG.
- Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam within 2 years.
- Must complete dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam within 1 year or within 72 hours of contract signing.
- Respiratory protection medical questionnaire and clearance required prior to orientation.
- Must provide 2 professional references within 2 years (1 must be a manager/supervisor/charge RN).
- Current resume/application required.
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year.

Additional Notes
- Traveler will be first to float at Premier's discretion and may be assigned to various specialty clusters.
- Premier Health reserves the right to cancel shifts or contracts with notice.
- Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health employee incentives.
- Must be available to work every other weekend and holidays.
