Job Opportunity: Step Down Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Lubbock, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

- EPIC Hardstop Requirement: Titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips are a hardstop; candidates must be proficient and meet this requirement.

Required Qualifications
Licensure
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- NURSYS verification required
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in Step Down or similar acute care setting
Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Current certification by AAP, AHA, or Canadian Paediatric Society (if applicable)
- Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification (if applicable)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification (if applicable)
- NIH Stroke Certification (every 2 years)
- IV Certification (if applicable)
- Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) (if applicable)
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit prior travel experience required
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
Background Checks
- Background check within 45 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start, updated monthly
- Education Verification required for nursing degree
- State-specific searches as applicable
Health Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit Mask test (N95 or equivalent) required and updated annually
- Immunizations and screenings:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
- Hepatitis B vaccination or signed declination
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Flu vaccine during flu season or signed declination
- COVID vaccine or signed declination
- Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
References & Employment History
- Minimum 2 references covering 1 year of employment within last 3 years in a comparable specialty/setting
- Employment application covering at least last 5 years
Uniform & Appearance
- Licensed nursing personnel (RN, LVN) must wear solid navy blue uniforms or scrubs (print tops not allowed except in specific units)
- Free parking available in unrestricted employee/visitor lots
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete required WorkRamp modules annually, including system-level regulatory and specialty-specific training prior to start
- Photo for badge required (passport style with neutral background)
- Float policy acknowledgement required; candidate may be required to float to other Providence facilities within reasonable distance
This position offers an opportunity to work in a Level II Trauma Center with a supportive environment and clear compliance standards. Candidates should be prepared to meet all certification, licensure, and health requirements prior to start.
