Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Telemetry)
Location: Dayton, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work in a mixed acuity unit caring for advanced care level patients, including experience with advanced care drips and step-down units.
- Target patient ratios typically 1:4, can be up to 1:5-6.
- Participate in team nursing or primary nursing models depending on unit needs.
- Must float to all Stepdown/Advanced Care units within the hospital system.
- No holiday Return to Office (RTO) accepted beyond 7 days.
- No local candidates accepted.
- Must pass an online EKG Telemetry competency assessment prior to starting.
- Available to work every other weekend and holidays.
- No travel partners allowed.
- Medical exemptions will not be accepted for this contract.
Required Qualifications
- License: Valid Ohio RN license (primary source verification required).
- Experience: Minimum 2 years nursing experience in a large hospital; Level 1 preferred, Level 2 accepted.
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 12 months prior to start)
- Ability to read and interpret EKG strips.
- Must be willing to obtain NIH Stroke Certification if not already held.
- Must be fitted for N95 respirator prior to working on the HRRU unit unless PAPR is provided/needed.
- Prior travel experience preferred but not required.
- Must complete Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam within 1 year or pass within 72 hours of contract signing (3 attempts allowed).
- Must complete Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 2 years of start.
- Must complete unit-specific competency exam within 2 years prior to start.
Floating Requirements
- Traveler will float at Premier’s discretion within the specialty cluster.
- Assignments may include support or direct care in medically appropriate units.
- Floating locations include Main Campus (Dayton), South Campus (Centerville, <10 miles), and North Campus (Englewood, <15 miles).
Work Schedule
- 36 or 48-hour shifts accepted.
- Overtime paid after 48 hours for 48-hour contracts.
- No block scheduling.
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 2 years indicating fitness for work and free of communicable diseases.
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray and annual TB questionnaire if past positive.
- Required vaccinations or immunity attestations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (vaccination series, immune titer, or declination).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- Drug screening: Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 12 months prior to documentation due date, including marijuana panel. Random drug screening during orientation week may be required.
- Respiratory safety clearance and medical questionnaire required prior to orientation.
Documentation and Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check including SSN trace, national and county checks, and sex offender registry.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required.
- Education verification required for all non-RN candidates.
- Two professional references within 2 years required (one must be a manager/supervisor/charge RN). Employment verification accepted if references unavailable.
- Current resume/application required.
- Skills checklist updated within 1 year prior to documentation due date.
- Work history verification required only if references are not available.
Additional Notes
- Travelers are not eligible for Premier Health employee incentives.
- No local candidates accepted.
- No travel partners allowed.
- Must be able to pass all required competency exams and certifications prior to start.
- Must be available for floating and weekend/holiday shifts as required.
This position is ideal for experienced RNs with telemetry and step-down experience seeking a travel contract in a large hospital setting with mixed acuity patients.
