Job Description

Seeking an experienced Speech Pathologist Assistant for a full-time contract assignment in an acute care and adult outpatient setting. The role follows a 5x8 day schedule (9:00 AM – 5:30 PM) with alternating weekend coverage (every other weekend, 9 AM to 12 PM).

Average Daily Census: 15
Beds: 180
Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Infectious Respiratory Disease, and others

Required Qualifications

• License/Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)
  • MBSImP (Modified Barium Swallow Impairment Profile)
  • Massachusetts State License for Speech Pathology

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of experience in Speech Pathology (higher value confirmed)
  • Previous charge experience required
  • Community hospital experience required
  • Patient ratio experience: 1:15
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred

• Clinical Skills:

  • Dysphagia management including bedside swallow evaluation, international dysphagia diet, modifying diet orders, and thickening agents
  • Patient safety awareness including signs and symptoms of physical, sexual, and psychological abuse
  • Billing and documentation skills including assessment, concurrent therapy documentation and treatment, discharge planning, evaluation, plan of care, point of service documentation, and reassessments

• Schedule Requirements:

  • Call required
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend (partial day)

Health & Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Immunizations and titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
• Drug screening (10 panel) within 1 year
• Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct-Apr)
• Background checks including Massachusetts statewide iCORI clearance and other standard screenings
• Competency exams and pass/fail testing as applicable

Summary

This is a 14-week travel contract for a Speech Pathologist Assistant in an inpatient rehab setting, requiring at least 1 year of experience, specific certifications, and license in Massachusetts. The position offers a structured day schedule with alternating weekend coverage and requires prior charge experience and community hospital experience. First-time travelers are welcome.
