Job Opportunity: Endoscopy Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Livingston, New Jersey
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Role: Endoscopy RN
• Schedule: 3 shifts of 12.5 hours each (37.5 hours/week)
• Staffing: 2 RNs or 1 RN and 1 tech per procedure; 4 RNs assigned in post-procedure area
• Unit operates Monday-Friday with block scheduling
• Weekend call only, shared equitably among RNs on a rotation basis
• Weekday call hours: 5 PM - 7 AM
• Locals accepted
• First-time travelers accepted

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience in specialty

Required Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Required Licenses

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for New Jersey

Prior Travel Experience

• Not required

Key Requirements & Compliance

• Criminal Background Check within 30 days of start
• Drug Screen within 30 days of start (10-panel urine test)
• Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray as per facility guidelines
• Physical exam within the last 12 months, cleared to perform essential job functions and free of communicable disease
• Influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
• Fit test and Respiratory Medical Clearance required prior to start (on-site fit testing mandatory)
• Color Blind Exam if job tasks require color discrimination
• Completion of Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam within 72 hours of signing
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam required within 12 months of start
• Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) required with remediation policy in place
• Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history
• Two professional references within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
• Skills checklist updated annually
• Work history verification required for New Jersey candidates (minimum 1 year prior to start date)
• Completion of annual education and safety training (OSHA, HIPAA, Joint Commission)

Additional Notes

• Weekend on-call rotation: 4 RNs take weekend call one month and have the next month off from weekend call
• On-call coverage is shared equitably among RNs
• Candidates must provide government-issued photo ID and driver’s license within 48 hours of signing
• Candidates with name changes must provide proof or documentation of name change process
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) certification required for ER, Pediatric ER, and Behavioral Health RNs (not applicable for this role)
• Facility-specific orientation and training required prior to start

This position offers a structured schedule with a supportive team environment in a well-established healthcare system. It is suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience in endoscopy or related areas, who hold current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications. Prior travel experience is not required, making it accessible for first-time travel nurses.
