Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (ICU) - Stockbridge, Georgia
Job Summary
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Contract Length: 14 weeks
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years of specialty experience (ICU)
- 1st time travelers accepted
- Prior travel experience: Not required
Work Environment & Unit Details
- Patient Ratio: 1:2-3 (may take a 3rd patient)
- Unit Size: 24 rooms, average daily census of 19
- Unit Systems: Pyxis, Epic, SBAR
- Scheduling: Block scheduling not guaranteed
- Floating: Yes, within facility and scope of practice
- Weekends: Every other weekend
- Holidays: Expected to work major holidays during assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)
- Scrub Color: Navy Blue
- Return to Office (RTO): Maximum 7 days
Required Certifications
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit specifics (refer to clinical track)
Required Licenses
- Valid Registered Nurse license in the state of Georgia
- NURSYS verification required within 30 days prior to start
Clinical Skills & Diagnoses Commonly Encountered
- ARDS, Sepsis, Stroke, STEMI, DKA
- Post-op complications, Cardiogenic shock, Gastrointestinal bleeding (GIB)
- COPD exacerbation, Encephalopathy, Liver failure
- Drug overdose, End-stage renal disease (ESRD) on CRRT
Orientation & Compliance
- Number of Non-Billable Orientation hours depends on contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8 weeks)
- Full compliance required to start on time; delays may result in a 2-week pushback due to bi-weekly orientation schedule
- Clinical screening required to determine clinical fit before final approval
Health & Background Requirements
- Background check required within 30 days of start; must be complete prior to start
- Education verification required; can be pending at start with proof it is in process (due within 30 days post start)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start required
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months; TB questionnaire required annually
- Immunizations: MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (highly recommended)
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start; results must be available before start
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
Competency Exams (Aya Required)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam
- Color blind testing (with alternative assessment if needed)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (3 attempts allowed; failure results in cancellation)
- General competency exam for nursing staff
Additional Notes
- Floating within facility as needed
- No travel pairs allowed regardless of unit
- Candidate must review and sign facility Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- References: 2 clinical references required by Aya (not client)
- Skills checklist and work history verification required; can be pending at start with proof in process
