Shift & Unit Information

• Unit: Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
• Shift: 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• Float Requirements: ICU, CPU; float to PCU and rarely to Med Surg/Telemetry (max 4 patients)
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Patient Diagnoses: Cardiac diagnoses including cardiothoracic surgical patients (travelers do not take fresh open heart patients)
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:3-4
• Stepdown Unit: 8 beds designated as cardiac progressive (stepdown); staff rotate days on Stepdown

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Registered Nurse)
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (1st timers okay)
• Required Skills: Must have strong clinical skills with 3s or 4s on checklist for:

  • Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
  • Care of ventilated patients
  • Continuous IV sedation (preferred)
  • Procedural sedation administration (preferred)

Certifications Required

• ACLS (AHA only)
• BLS (AHA or American Red Cross)
• CCRN (preferred)

Documentation & Systems

• Medication system: Omnicell
• Documentation system: EPIC

Work Hours & Scheduling

• 3 shifts of 12 hours = 36 hours/week
• 4 shifts of 12 hours = 48 hours/week
• Called off rules apply (8, 10, or 12 hours per 2-week period)

Required Compliance & Onboarding Documents

• Valid RN license for Georgia
• Background check within 30 days of start
• Official transcript or diploma copy
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (renewed yearly)
• Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year (or documentation if positive)
• Immunizations: Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years), Hepatitis B, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella (titers or vaccines)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including THC)
• Flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season
• Photo for badge (passport style, white background)
• Facility-specific orientation including pass/fail exams (EKG, medication, critical care)
• Completion of facility-required learning modules prior to start
• Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption per facility policy

Additional Notes

• Travelers will be tested on EPIC on day 1
• Pass/fail testing includes EKG, medication, and critical care exams with two attempts allowed
• Scrub color coding applies by unit (ICU: Ceil Blue)
• Physical mask fit testing completed at orientation
• References and employment application required per agency guidelines

This position is suitable for ICU RNs with at least 2 years of experience, comfortable with cardiac critical care patients, and willing to work night shifts with weekend coverage. Prior travel experience is not required.
