Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Location: Harvey, Illinois (Rotating between 3 offsite clinics in Flossmoor, Calumet City, and Tinley Park)

Position Details

  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating required

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department
• Experience in a teaching hospital preferred
• First-time travelers accepted
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification (required for ER clinical candidates)

Preferred Certifications:

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (if not already certified)

Licensure

• Must hold an active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Illinois
• Pending licenses are not accepted

Additional Requirements

• Must have a valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks including 7-year history, education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask models required)
• Immunizations and titers required within 2 business days of contract signing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB history)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation or approved medical/religious exemption required
• Completion of facility orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)
• 2 professional references required
• Employment application with 7 years of work history and explanation of any gaps longer than 30 days
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• Work history verification for 7 years required

COVID-19 and Flu Vaccine Exemptions

• Religious and medical exemption forms for COVID-19 and influenza vaccines must be completed and approved by the facility prior to start
• Exemption review may take up to 1 week

• Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: maximum 7 days
• Floating between clinics in the area is required
