Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Harvey, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Role: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (ER)
• Work Setting: Rotating between 3 offsite clinics in the area
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Floating Requirement: Yes
• Charting System: Epic
• Block Schedule: Not accommodated
• Locals Accepted: Yes
• Pending License: Not accepted
• Return to Office Restrictions: Maximum 7 days

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Specialty Experience: Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department
• Preferred Experience: Experience in a teaching hospital preferred
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• First-time Travelers: Accepted

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Preferred Certifications

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)

License Requirements

• Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
• Primary source verification of license required within 30 days of assignment start
• NURSYS verification required within 30 days of assignment start

Background & Compliance Requirements

• 7-year background check including multiple national and federal databases
• Education verification (ADN or BSN required)
• Drug testing: Negative 9-panel within 30 days of start
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year (specific mask models required)
• Immunizations and titers required within 2 business days of contract signing:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB)
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination/documentation or approved medical/religious exemption required
• Fingerprinting required if no Illinois state license (not applicable for RN)

Additional Requirements

• Skills checklist for assigned and float units, updated annually
• Employment verification for last 7 years
• Two professional references required
• Current resume including last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps over 30 days
• Completion of facility orientation modules prior to start (approx. 2 hours)

• Candidates must complete all required health and background documentation timely to avoid delays
• Religious and medical exemption forms for COVID-19 and influenza vaccines are available but require facility approval
• This position involves rotating between multiple clinic locations within the region
