Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Harvey, Illinois (Rotating between 3 offsite clinics in the area)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room
• Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty (Emergency Room)
• Additional Experience: Must have prior experience in an urban, Level I Trauma Emergency Department. Experience in a teaching hospital preferred.
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• Schedule Requirements:

  • Weekend shifts every other weekend required
  • Floating between units required
  • Block scheduling not accommodated
• Charting System: Epic

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider or AHA RQI only

Preferred Certifications:

• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) - Required for ER clinical candidates; can be completed onsite twice per month

Required Licensure

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Illinois
• Pending licenses are NOT accepted

Required Qualifications & Documents

• Must have a valid Driver’s License or State ID
• Background checks including 7-year history, aliases, sex offender, national and federal criminal checks, and education verification
• Education: ADN or BSN degree with licensure verification
• NURSYS verification within 30 days of assignment start
• Physical exam within 1 year, updated annually, confirming good health
• Fit mask test within 1 year (3M 1860, 1870+, or 9205+ masks accepted)
• Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days of start
• Immunizations and titers (must be completed within 2 business days of contract signing):

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (if positive TB) within 1 year
  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (declination allowed)
  • Varicella
• Flu seasonal vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination exemption forms (religious or medical) if applicable, with facility approval
• Employment history verification for the last 7 years
• Skills checklist updated annually for assigned and float units
• References: 2 required
• Current resume including last 7 years of employment with explanations for gaps longer than 30 days

Additional Notes

• First-time travelers accepted
• Locals accepted
• Maximum 7 days restriction on return to office (RTO)
• Orientation modules required before clearance/start (approx. 2 hours)
• Fingerprinting required only if the candidate’s profession does not require an Illinois state license (not applicable for RN)
