Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Tech (IR Tech)

Location: Minneapolis, Minnesota
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Interventional Radiology)
  • Shift: Start time between 07:00 - 08:30 AM, Monday to Friday
  • Hours: 40 hours per week
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 9 cases per tech
  • On-Call: Yes, 0-5 assignments per month (more is elective)
  • Weekend Requirement: On call as needed
  • Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
  • Locals Accepted: Yes, no radius restrictions
  • Pending State License Accepted: Yes
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 5 days

Required Experience & Skills

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 1 year in specialty
  • First-timers Accepted: Yes
  • Work Setting Experience Required: Inpatient, Operating Room, Emergency Room, Interventional Radiology
  • X-ray Procedure Experience Required: Extremities, Abdomen/GI, Spine/Pelvis, Head, Chest/Thorax, Lower and Upper Extremities
  • IR/Angio/Special Procedures Experience Required:
    • Stents
    • Angioplasty
    • Angiograms
    • Nephrogram
    • Peripherals
    • Drainages (upper and lower extremity)
    • Abdomen and Pelvic
    • Genitourinary Studies
    • Vascular Studies
    • Venous Access
    • Neurological Studies

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • License: Must hold a valid license appropriate for Interventional Radiology Tech in Minnesota
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted, RQI acceptable, certificate of completion not accepted
    • ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) certification required
    • ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM as applicable (review unit/job description for applicability)
  • Competency Exams: Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam and other competency exams as required

Background & Health Requirements

  • Criminal background check within 1 year of start (including MN statewide search and other standard checks)
  • MN DHS Net Study Fingerprint clearance required before start (no fingerprints pending allowed)
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
  • Immunizations and health screenings required:
    • Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella (2 vaccines or positive titer required)
    • Hepatitis B (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Varicella (proof of immunity or vaccination series)
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination documentation required for 2025-26 season (declinations accepted)
  • OSHA Respiratory Safety clearance required prior to start for fit testing

  • Scrubs provided by the unit
  • Charting system: Excellian/Epic
  • Facility is a Short Term Acute Care, Magnet, Teaching, Level III Trauma center
  • Parking available at a flat hourly rate
