Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Home Health

Location: Metairie, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Provide and coordinate home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
• Directly supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
• Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day.
• Types of cases: Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
• Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from the home clinic, averaging about 250 miles per week.
• Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
• Weekend work: Not required.
• On-call: None.
• Charting: Proficiency required in HomeCare HomeBase (HCHB) within the last 6 months; RNs must also be proficient in OASIS.
• Dress code: Scrubs.

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Home Health)
• Experience: Minimum 1 full year of recent Adult Home Health experience or 1 full year Hospice experience depending on specialty. First-time travelers are not accepted; recent specialty experience is mandatory.
• Certifications: Current CPR and BLS certification required.
• Licensure: Must have an active RN license in hand (no pending licenses accepted).
• Reliable transportation and a current driver's license are required.
• Must have agency-required liability insurance.

Additional Information

• Productivity expectations: 30-35 points per week (points assigned based on visits and activities).
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate.
• Must be proficient with electronic medical records systems: HomeCare HomeBase and PointCare.
• The need for this position is due to increased census following recent RN resignation.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Background checks including 7-year history, sex offender search, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and state-specific searches as applicable.
• Fingerprinting required for certain states and must be current.
• Education verification required.
• Physical exam within 12 months confirming good health and no communicable diseases.
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually.
• Immunization or titer proof for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella.
• Drug screening (10-panel) required.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or documented declination required.
• COVID-19 vaccination series or declination required.
• Two professional references required.
• Work history verification for at least the last 7 years or two most recent employers.
• Various facility-specific compliance documents and policy acknowledgments must be reviewed and signed prior to start.
