Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (CRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Fayetteville, North Carolina

Job Details

  • Shift: Nights
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, every other weekend
  • On-call Requirement: No
  • Floating: Yes, must float within scope to meet facility needs between like units
  • Block Scheduling: Not accommodated
  • Locals Accepted: No (50-mile radius rule from main campus)
  • Pending License Accepted: No
  • Return to Work Restrictions:
    • Must be gone for 1 year to return as a traveler
    • System has a 2 contract limit (can only extend once), then must be gone for 6 months to return
  • Guaranteed Hours: Call off policy allows 2 shifts off per 13-week assignment; after that, all contracted shifts are guaranteed
  • Must be comfortable working with both adults and children in ICU and Pediatric settings
  • Only 4 days allowed off (RTO) and no holidays off
  • Facility Type: Short-term acute care, Level III Trauma Center, Teaching Hospital
  • Total Staffed Beds: 733
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Scrub Color: Solid Black or Black and White

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) license for North Carolina
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or Military only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or Military only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA or Military only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required for applicable units
  • NIH Stroke Certification - Must be updated annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam - Must be completed via Relias and renewed annually
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required with remediation policy in place

Required Health Documents & Screenings

  • Physical Exam within 1 year, signed by physician, NP, or PA-C (updated annually)
  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within last 10 years (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray within 1 year of start
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Titer or 2 vaccines required (no declinations accepted for new candidates)
  • Hepatitis B: Vaccine series, positive titer, or signed declination accepted
  • Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days (specific substances listed)
  • Flu Vaccine: Required year-round; medical or religious exemptions require facility-approved documentation
  • COVID-19 Vaccine: Not required but accepted if available

Background Checks & Verifications

  • Background check required within 6 months of start
  • Education verification required; diploma/transcript may be required if education verification cannot be completed
  • Various facility-specific forms and acknowledgments must be completed prior to start (e.g., confidentiality, patient identification, professional appearance, etc.)

Additional Notes

  • Must be comfortable working nights, weekends, holidays, and floating as needed
  • Callouts for scheduled shifts require makeup shifts as deemed necessary by the department
  • Photo for badge required prior to start (passport-style, professional)
  • Orientation typically occurs on Monday, with schedule provided by unit representative
  • Facility enforces strict policies on flu vaccination and COVID exemptions
  • Candidate must comply with facility-specific policies and complete required modules before start

This position is ideal for experienced Respiratory Therapists comfortable with critical care environments involving both adult and pediatric patients, who are flexible with scheduling and floating within similar units.
