Job Opportunity: RRT-NICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each
- Setting: In-patient acute hospital respiratory therapy department
- Patient Population: Experience required in either PICU and/or NICU
- No call required
- Return to Office (RTO) limit: 5 days or less during the 13-week contract
- EPIC experience preferred
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience in Respiratory Therapy specialty (PICU and/or NICU experience required)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification - AHA provider only
- RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) credential
- Oregon state license pending acceptable
- Prior travel experience: Not required (unit accepts first-time travelers)
Certifications & Training
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA provider only
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA provider only
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - AHA/AAP only
- Annual stroke CEUs may be required depending on unit assignment
- Facility-specific training modules (Compass) must be completed prior to start
Compliance & Screening Requirements
- Valid government-issued photo ID required on first day
- Background check within 6 months prior to start, including:
- Education verification
- Work history verification (last 7 years minimum)
- National sex offender search
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
- Drug testing: Negative 10-panel with methamphetamines listed, within 3 months prior to start
- Physical exam: Required to meet Aya Healthcare standards (within 1 year)
- Fit mask test: Required within 1 year prior to start (N95 or equivalent)
- Immunizations and health documents required:
- Tdap vaccine or signed declination
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months
- TB questionnaire required for all candidates
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
- Hepatitis B (full vaccine series, immune titer, or declination)
- Varicella (immune titer, vaccines, or declination)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (deadline 12/01/2025)
Additional Requirements
- Two (2) manager or supervisor references from the last 24 months required
- Application must include at least 7 years of work history with city and state for each position
- Competency exam with a required score of 85% or higher
- Facility-specific policies and professional appearance guidelines must be reviewed and signed prior to start
Work Environment
- Acute care hospital respiratory therapy department providing full spectrum respiratory care services
- Night shifts, no call, limited return to office days
This position is suitable for respiratory therapists with NICU or PICU experience looking for a travel contract in Oregon with a reputable health system. First-time travelers are welcome.
