Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Telemetry

Location: Louisville, Kentucky
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour nights
  • Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5
  • Electronic Medical Record: EPIC experience required
  • Advanced dysrhythmia test required for competency assessment

Required Skills & Experience

Clinical Skills Required

  • Cardiac Telemetry and Telemetry monitoring (unit and remote)
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias

  • IV Therapy including blood product administration, central line, peripheral line, PICC line management, and starting IVs
  • Neurological care related to CVA (stroke)
  • Respiratory care including external CPAP/BIPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, and tracheostomy management
  • Isolation precautions

  • Experience in MS/Tele, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown units
  • Management of dysrhythmias and use of rapid response teams
  • Cardiovascular post-MI, pre/post cardiac cath or surgery
  • Pre/post hemodialysis management
  • Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
  • Neurological trauma and neurosurgery care
  • Orthopedics/plastics including peripheral nerve block catheters and surgical drains
  • Respiratory skills such as ABG interpretation and non-invasive airway management
  • Wound care and wound vac

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Kentucky
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be current within 1 year)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) certification as applicable
  • NURSYS verification required for all RNs

Competency Exams & Testing

  • Advanced Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (must be completed within 1 year of start and updated annually)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Color Blind Testing prior to start
  • General competency exam prior to start

Background & Health Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years

  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required

  • Education verification matching specialty required (transcript or diploma acceptable if verification unavailable)

  • Physical exam within 1 year (not required by facility but required by agency standards)

  • Fit mask test annually (with waiver process if failed)

  • Immunizations and screenings required:

    • Tdap within 10 years
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
    • Baseline TB risk assessment within 90 days of start, updated annually
    • 2 MMR vaccines or IgG titer for measles, mumps, rubella
    • Hepatitis B surface antibody titer, series, or declination
    • 2 Varicella vaccines or IgG titer
    • Flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
    • COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption
  • Negative 9-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
