Job Opportunity: RRT PICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shifts: 3x12-hour or 4x12-hour shifts, every other week required
- Primarily assigned to Labor & Delivery (L&D) with floating to PICU, NICU, and Pediatrics units
- May also float to other hospital locations as needed
- Children's hospital experience required within the last 3 years
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
- Experience in Level 1 adult facilities is acceptable
- Must have L&D experience (for those placed in L&D)
- Home unit assignment will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics but may change based on facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Indiana State Respiratory Therapist License (IN state license required; temporary license accepted if application submitted)
- Education accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
- Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NBRC RRT
- NRP (required for L&D placements; can be obtained after offer)
- PALS certification preferred
- Children's hospital experience within the last 3 years
- PICU experience: minimum 2 years
- Must have completed all mandatory IU Health RRT modules prior to orientation (21 modules, deadline Friday before start)
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Unit Information
- NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics experience required
- Floating between these units and other hospital locations may occur
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid Indiana State Respiratory Therapist License verification within 30 days before start
- Background checks including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Immunizations and health screenings:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (preferred but not required)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination/documentation required (no declinations accepted)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
- Skills checklist and competency exams required annually and within 12 months of start
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years
Additional Notes
- Indiana RN travel restrictions effective 11/30/24 do not apply to RRTs
- Mandatory IU Health RRT modules must be completed before orientation; failure to complete results in automatic push of start date
- Floating to multiple units and hospital locations expected based on facility needs
