Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)
Location: Columbus, Ohio

Job Overview
- Work in a Level 1 Trauma 18-bed Operating Room.
- Surgical cases include General, Robotic, Laparoscopic, Trauma, Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spine, Ophthalmology, ENT, Plastics, Burns, Urology, GYN, and Transplant.
- Variable shifts: days/evenings, 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts.
- Call required Monday-Friday 9:00 PM - 6:30 AM; weekend and holiday coverage may be required.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care during surgical procedures.
- Circulate primarily in Orthopedic, Neurosurgery, Spine, and General Surgery cases.
- Collaborate closely with the surgical team.
- Maintain patient records using EPIC electronic health record system.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of Operating Room RN experience (including experience in Level 1 trauma centers).
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Ohio.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Experience with EPIC electronic health records.
Preferred Experience
- Experience in ENT, Genitourinary (GU), Plastics, and Burns cases.
Prior Travel Experience
- No explicit requirement for prior travel experience.
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA Provider or Instructor accepted.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – Required for certain units; check unit-specific requirements.
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam – Required within 1 year of start and updated annually (except for certain excluded units).
- Unit-specific competency exams required.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required prior to start.
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check including FBI and BCI fingerprinting (must be completed within 1 year of start).
- Education accreditation verification from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA).
- Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 3 months of start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, THC, cocaine, opiates, etc.).
- Monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG monitoring.
- Completion of Fraud, Waste, and Abuse training certificate prior to start and annually thereafter.
- Annual review and acknowledgment of Ethics and Compliance policies.
- Orientation Safety Manual acknowledgment annually.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start confirming good health and free of contagious disease.
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult dose after age 11/12).
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year; TB questionnaire annually.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – 2 MMR vaccines or positive titer.
- Hepatitis B titer or 3-vaccine series (declination accepted).
- Varicella – 2 vaccines or positive titer (medical exemption allowed).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or declination during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31).
- COVID-19 vaccination not required but strongly recommended.
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references required; at least one must be from a manager or formal leadership.
- Employment application and skills checklist required.
- Compliance with dress code and hand hygiene policies.
