Job Opportunity: RN (Registered Nurse) - Float Pool
Location: Weirton, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Specialty: Float Pool - 500
Job Overview
- Float to multiple units of varying acuity levels, including but not limited to:
- CCU (10 beds)
- IMC (30 beds)
- Medical-Surgical Level 7 (27 beds)
- Medical-Surgical Level 8 (48 beds)
- Skilled Care (33 beds)
- Emergency Department (15 beds)
- Nurse-to-patient ratios vary by unit:
- CCU: 1:2-3
- IMC: 1:4-6
- MS Level 7: 1:5-6
- MS Level 8: 1:5-8
- Skilled Care: 1:8-10
- ED: TBD
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 5 years nursing experience
- Preferably 1 year ICU or 1 year ED experience
- Comfortable managing patient ratios ranging from 1:2 up to 1:10
- Must be flexible, adaptable, and possess multi-functional expertise with strong problem-solving skills
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS required if working in CCU or ED
- Ability to titrate drips (e.g., Heparin) in ED and CCU
- Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips, print strips, perform measurements, and identify rhythms
- Comfortable troubleshooting respiratory equipment (ventilators, trachs, BiPAP, CPAP, Airvo)
- Must be able to float to lower acuity units confidently

- NSTEMI
- Pneumonia
- Sepsis
- Diabetes
- Heart Disease
- Diverticulitis
- Other common medical conditions
Work Environment & Scheduling
- Self-scheduling available with 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
- Schedule created 4 weeks in advance; flexibility required to fill staffing gaps
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday rotation participation may be required
- No call or standby requirement
- Assignments communicated via text message within 2 hours prior to shift start
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs
- Orientation: 1 day unit-specific orientation plus 1 day with a preceptor; orientation provided for only one unit before independent floating
Additional Information
- Charge nurse present on each shift and unit; may take patient assignments as needed
- Nurse aides/patient care techs available with ratios of 1:7-15
- Monitor techs available 24/7
- Must include a copy of an unexpired driver’s license with submission
- Must disclose any licensing issues at time of submission
