Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 14 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room with experience in circulating and scrubbing in a variety of surgical specialties including General, Neuro, Spine, Ortho, Robotics, Urology, Vascular, and Colorectal surgeries. The patient population ranges from adults to geriatrics.
Required Experience
- Minimum 1 year of specialty experience in Operating Room nursing.
- 1st time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required).
Work Setting & Responsibilities
- Main OR with 16 rooms and an average daily census of 35 patients.
- Use of Epic, Pyxis, and 2 Da Vinci XI Robots.
- Circulate and Scrub experience is a hard requirement.
- Scrub color provided by facility.
- Floating is rare but may be required within facility/scope of practice.
Schedule & Call Requirements
- Rotation includes 2–3 weekends per 8-week schedule (in-house or on call).
- Call shifts: 7-8 calls in an 8-week period, including 1 weekend call and 1-2 weekend shifts.
- Call shift times: 7 p.m.–7 a.m. or 7 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Additional 2–3 weekday night call shifts during the same 8-week period.
- Must work major holidays if they fall during the assignment (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day).
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Georgia.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications may be required depending on unit specifics.
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification required if applicable.
- Annual NURSYS verification required.
Compliance & Onboarding
- Full compliance with all documentation and certifications required to start on time.
- Background check, education verification, and drug screening must be completed prior to start.
- Physical exam and immunizations (including TB test, MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu vaccine or declination) required.
- Color blindness testing and competency exams (including Dysrhythmia/EKG) required.
- Skills checklist and work history verification required and must be current.
Additional Notes
- Orientation hours are proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for an 8-week assignment).
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum 7 days with blackout dates during Spring Break (April 4th-12th).
- Locals accepted at the same rate.
