Job Description

  • Position: RN Telemetry (Neuro MS/telemetry unit)
  • Average patient ratio: 1:4-5 (both day and night shifts)
  • Float required: Yes
  • Call required: No
  • Block scheduling: No
  • Guaranteed hours
  • Return to Office (RTO) > 7 days upon approval

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Registered Nursing
  • Neuro MS/telemetry experience required
  • Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut before start date
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)
  • Telemetry certification required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) recommended/required depending on unit
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (e.g., NIH Stroke Certification, TNCC for ER, etc.)

Background & Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification and transcript/diploma requirements (including foreign equivalency for internationally educated RNs)
  • Employment application with 7-year work history, no gaps greater than 90 days
  • Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 12 months of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
  • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Required vaccinations or proof of immunity:
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (MMR)
    • Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly preferred for pediatric specialties, labor & delivery, postpartum)
  • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept 1 - Mar 31)
  • COVID vaccination series preferred

Competency & Training Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (must score 85%) within 12 months of start
  • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024, must score 80%)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for telemetry, MS/Tele, ER, ICU, Progressive Care, PACU, IR/Cath Lab units (not required for NICU or Behavioral Health)
  • Mobile Heartbeat Alarm training (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
  • Stroke Education Module (except pediatric specialties and NICU)
  • CLABSI Prevention Training
  • Preventing Pressure Injury Training
  • Language Services Training
  • CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
  • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
  • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
  • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
  • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
  • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
  • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
  • AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
  • New Employee Orientation Module
  • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
  • ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
  • eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
  • Chaperone Policy Training (required for RNs and Allied Health)
