Required Qualifications

  • License: Active Registered Nurse (RN) license for Connecticut
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience in specialty (Telemetry)
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
  • Background Checks:
    • 7-year criminal background check (updated annually)
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
    • Sex offender search
  • Education: Verification of highest level of education required; foreign equivalency evaluation required for internationally educated RNs
  • Competencies:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (required within 12 months, 85% passing score)
    • Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024, 80% passing score)
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (required for Telemetry and certain other units)
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam within 12 months
    • Fit mask test within 12 months (annual update required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination highly preferred for certain specialties
    • Immunizations or titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
    • COVID vaccination preferred
  • Employment History:
    • 7-year work history with no gaps greater than 90 days
    • Work history verification required for all start dates on/after 8/2/2024
  • Additional Training/Modules:
    • Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
    • CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric
    • Preventing Pressure Injury
    • Language Services Training
    • CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
    • Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
    • Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
    • Pyxis ES MedStation Modules
    • Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
    • Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
    • Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
    • AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
    • New Employee Orientation Module
    • 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
    • ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
    • eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
    • Chaperone Policy Training (required as of 5/31/2024)

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Registered Nurse in Telemetry, working night shifts with a patient ratio of approximately 1:4-5. The position requires a minimum of 2 years of RN experience, active CT RN license, BLS and ACLS certifications, and completion of various health, competency, and facility-specific training requirements. First-time travelers are welcome. The role includes weekend work every other weekend and may require floating within the scope of practice.


Note: All certifications must be current and from approved providers. Pending licenses are accepted if active before the start date.
