Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (RN) - Observation Unit (MedSurg)

Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks

Unit Details

• Unit: 2C Observation Unit
• Number of Beds: 22
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:5 or 1:6
• Charge Nurse occasionally takes patient assignments
• CNA support available (2 CNAs if able)
• No ventilators on unit
• Heavy telemetry unit monitored by Central Monitoring; RNs read strips
• Common patient types: miscellaneous medical observation
• Common drip: Heparin only

Schedule & Work Environment

• Shift: 7a-7p (12-hour shifts)
• Orientation: 3 shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Rotate with permanent staff
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating: Yes, to med surg units
• Dress Code: Caribbean Blue top and bottom OR White top and Caribbean Blue bottom OR all white top/bottom
• Fast-paced unit with high turnover
• Discharges up to 16 per day; admissions and refills occur on this unit
• RNs perform their own EKGs and draw labs

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license required
• BLS Certification required
• ACLS Certification not required but highly recommended

• Strict 75-mile radius rule applies
• Charge nurse may occasionally have patient assignments
• No ventilators on unit; heavy telemetry monitoring
• Fast-paced environment with frequent discharges and admissions
