Job Opportunity: Cath Lab Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Florence, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
  • Shift Options:
    • 5x8s, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
    • 4x10s, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: 1 to 2 weekends per month
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, 1 to 2 weekends per month on call
  • Floating: No floating between units or sister facilities
  • Local Radius: Must live within 30 minutes of the facility to respond promptly when on call for STEMIs
  • Locals Accepted: No

Required Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum 1 year of experience in Cath Lab and/or Electrophysiology (EP)
    • Experience must include circulating in Cath Lab with PCI, Shockwave, CSI, Impella insertion, and Balloon Pump
  • Licensure:
    • South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be active prior to start
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (American Heart Association only)
    • ACLS (American Heart Association only; RQI acceptable)
  • Radiation Badge:
    • Required and must be provided by the agency (facility does NOT provide radiation badges)
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Scrub, circulate, and monitor in all cases
    • Tilt table study, cardioversion, vascular experience (carotid and peripheral), PFA and Watchman experience
    • EP experience including monitoring, pacing, and burning

Prior Travel Experience

  • Not explicitly required; first-time travelers accepted if they meet experience requirements

Important Notes

  • Travelers must be able to respond within 30 minutes when on call for STEMIs
  • Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks
  • Open to block scheduling with prior approval (not guaranteed)
  • Hurricane season (June–November) may require assignment to emergency response teams; avoid confirming new or extension assignments during peak months (August and September) if this is a concern

  • Charting system: Epic, MAC Lab
  • Scrubs: Hospital issued
  • Parking: Free

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Proof of work eligibility (I-9, E-Verify)
  • Copy of Driver’s License/State ID
  • Social Security Card or SSN verification
  • Annual background check including international searches
  • Drug screen: 10-panel within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical exam: Initial and updated annually
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (boosters if low titer)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 – Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • COVID vaccination not required but highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Respirator clearance annually for patient-facing staff
  • Clinical references: 2 required
  • Performance evaluation within 12 months of start
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Radiation badge process must be completed before starting floor work

Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Completion of orientation modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
  • Clear, passport-style photo for badge
  • Signed agreements including assignment acknowledgment, confidentiality, code of conduct, HR policy, system user agreement, and user access request
  • Upload vaccination and flu documentation into facility system
  • Facility-specific COVID exemption form if applicable

This position is ideal for Cath Lab RNs with at least 1 year of specialized experience who are comfortable with on-call responsibilities and working in a high-acuity cardiac environment.
