Travel/Contract ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Boone, North Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• ICU RN position with ASAP start
• Home unit: standard ICU
• May float in rotation with staff to IMCU & MedSurg based on patient volume
• Schedule: 3 shifts per week, 12-hour night shifts (6:45pm - 7:15am), weekdays, up to 2 weekends per month
• ICU patient ratios typically 1:2, may vary when floating
• Must be very flexible regarding floating assignments
• Experience with EPIC EMR required (proficiency mandatory)
• Comfortable caring for pediatric patients occasionally (peds patients are not common but may be assigned)
• Scrub color: all white or all navy

Required Qualifications

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (ICU)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience (higher value interpretation)
• Active North Carolina or Multistate RN license
• Certifications required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Scale Certification
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Skills: ventilator management, comfortable with occasional pediatric patients
• Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Proof of I9 or Attestation
• Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License) required for address verification
• Background check: 7-year criminal history check within 1 year of start, updated annually
• E-Verify, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
• NURSYS verification required for all RNs
• Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency required
• Facility-specific documents including badge photo, self-study orientation, accountability statements, and personal data sheet must be completed and updated as required
• Physical exam attesting ability to meet physical demands, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, updated annually
• Immunizations or titers required for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B
  • Varicella (Zoster/Shringrix not accepted)
• Drug screening: 10-panel including marijuana, within 90 days of start, updated annually
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Apr 30)

Additional Notes

• Candidates residing less than 40 miles from the facility will not be accepted
• Must comply with local rules and facility-specific policies
• Proof of 2 clinical references required
• Performance evaluations required if previously worked with the system over 1 year
• Skills checklist and internal evaluations required as applicable

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs who are flexible, comfortable with floating, and proficient in EPIC EMR.
