Description

Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)

Location: Topeka, Kansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: Medical Surgical Nights
Hours: Option of 36 or 48 hours per week
Float required
Some weekends required

Required Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience in Medical Surgical nursing preferred
Previous travel experience preferred (not explicitly required)

Required Certifications

BLS (Basic Life Support) required
ACLS, PALS, NRP, CHEMO, TNCC, Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB), NIH Stroke Certification, CPI - Crisis Prevention Institute as applicable

Required Licenses

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Kansas
Primary source online verification required (e.g., NURSYS)

Health & Compliance Requirements

Physical exam within 12 months of start
Fit test within 1 year of start, renewed annually
Adult TDAP vaccine within 10 years
Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
Required immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (or declination)
- Varicella
Negative 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 - Mar 31)
COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required

Background & Documentation

7-year background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
Education verification required (highest level)
Work history verification for 7 years
Driver’s license or state ID required
I-9 and E-Verify compliance required
Photo for badge required

Additional Notes

Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency testing required as applicable
Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
Unit-specific skills checklist required annually
Some facility-specific forms and consents may be required prior to start
