Location: Ann Arbor, Michigan

Job Description
- Serve as VAD (Ventricular Assist Device) Coordinator managing patient and caregiver education, routine and urgent telehealth care, emergency patient management via phone, clinic visits, equipment management and downloads.
- Act as equipment and alarm expert in OR and procedural settings.
- Responsibilities include:
- Checking and maintaining VAD equipment integrity in clinic settings.
- Troubleshooting alarms and escalating device issues as needed.
- Educating staff, patients, and caregivers on VAD devices.
- Triage issues from call center, emergency line, and patient portal independently.
- Approximately 80% outpatient work with some procedure area involvement.
- Devices primarily include HeartMate 3, HeartMate 2, and BrioVAD.
- Patient load: approximately 210 patients.
- Shift times: 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM or 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
- Typical weekly hours: 36-40 hours (4x10-hour shifts or a mix of 10- and 8-hour shifts).
- EPIC experience required.
Required Qualifications
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (CVOR)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years in specialty (screening may consider 2 years, but 3 years required).
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certified, no certificates of completion accepted.
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certified as applicable, no certificates of completion accepted.
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required only for specific pediatric units (not required for this role).
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) - Required as applicable.
- Licensure: Valid Registered Nurse license for Michigan.
- Additional:
- VAD-C certification preferred but not required.
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license.
- Background checks including 7-year history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG clearance.
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date, updated annually.
- Fit mask test within 1 year (N95 or equivalent).
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year; if past positive, must have clear chest X-ray within 5 years and complete annual TB questionnaire.
- Immunizations or titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella as per facility policy.
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccination required year-round with no exemptions allowed.
- Two recent professional references from managers or supervisors (charge RN references not accepted).
- Completion of facility-specific orientation paperwork within 3 weeks of start date.
Additional Notes
- Must be expert in VAD equipment and alarms, including HeartMate and BrioVAD devices.
- Ability to independently triage and manage patient and equipment issues is critical.
- Majority of work is outpatient with some procedural area involvement.
- Facility requires strict adherence to documentation and compliance policies to maintain assignment.
This position offers a specialized opportunity for experienced CVOR Registered Nurses with expertise in VAD management and strong clinical and technical skills.
