Required Experience & Qualifications
- Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- Certifications Required:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
- License: Active Registered Nurse license for Connecticut required prior to start

Compliance & Background Checks
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification and transcript/diploma requirements apply, including foreign equivalency for internationally educated RNs
- Sex offender search required
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months prior to start (85% passing score)
- Color Blind Testing required for all candidates on/after 8/2/2024 (80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Telemetry and related units (effective 1/26/2026)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation required
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for certain specialties (not required)
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months prior to start
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination preferred
Facility-Specific Training & Documentation
- Multiple mandatory training modules and attestations including but not limited to:
- Stroke Education (not required for pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention
- Preventing Pressure Injury
- Language Services
- CAUTI Education
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment
- Pyxis ES MedStation
- Baxter Pump Interoperability
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness
- Blood Administration (annual update required)
- New Employee Orientation
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training (required if gap >6 months or updated module)
Additional Requirements
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain units (not applicable for Telemetry)
This position is suitable for RNs with telemetry experience seeking a travel contract in a Level I Trauma Center environment with a 1:3 patient ratio and every other weekend commitment. First-time travelers are accepted.
