Job Description

  • Position: Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN)
  • Facility Level: Level 1
  • Required Experience: Minimum 5 years in specialty
  • Specialty Experience Required: Vascular & Neuro experience mandatory
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes
  • Floating: No floating required
  • Local Radius Rule: Must be located at least 75 miles away (no locals accepted)
  • Pending License: Accepted if obtained prior to start
  • Attendance Policy: More than two missed shifts per 13-week contract without reasonable explanation may lead to contract review and possible cancellation

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA required, RQI acceptable
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - Required for OR RN, must be AHA or AHA RQI
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Required for OR RN at Mary Black campus; confirm location to determine if needed
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Preferred for Mother Baby/Postpartum RN’s
  • Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) - Required on first day of orientation; includes arrhythmia and drug calculation tests; two attempts allowed
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - Required
  • State License Verification - Primary source verification required
  • NURSYS Verification - Required for all RNs
  • Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing - Required for RNs

Required Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse license valid in South Carolina (must be obtained prior to start if pending)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as an RN with vascular and neuro specialty experience
  • Ability to work on-call as required
  • Must comply with facility attendance policy

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • South Carolina statewide search required regardless of residence/work history
  • Education verification: Highest level of education (associate’s, bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate) must be verified
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Drug testing within 60 days of start (10 panel including Oxycodone and Marijuana)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months of start
  • Immunizations/vaccinations required or approved exemptions for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B
    • Varicella
    • Seasonal Flu (documentation or declination required)
    • COVID-19 (Dose 1 and 2 required or declination form)
  • Respiratory Safety Clearance within 1 year of start (if respirator use required)

Additional Requirements

  • Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and compliance checklists
  • Pass/Fail testing for medication and EKG competency required
  • References: 2 references within 3 years of start required (Qualivis requirement)
  • Employment application required
  • Skills checklist updated annually for applicable units
