Job Opportunity: RRT Pediatrics (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, every other week (EOW) required
- Floating between NICU, PICU, Pediatrics, and possibly IU Health North Hospital
- Home unit assignment will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics but may change based on facility needs
Required Experience
- Minimum 18 months recent experience in NICU or PICU
- Trauma 1 experience in a children’s hospital within the last year required
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Indiana State Respiratory Therapist License (RRT) must be in hand to submit
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NRP (AHA Neonatal Resuscitation Program, required if placed in Labor & Delivery)
- PALS preferred but not required
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
Skills & Equipment Experience
- Experience with NICU, PICU, ventilators (Servo I, Servo U, Hamilton G5)
- Must have trauma experience in a pediatric setting
Prior Travel Experience
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Additional Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy)
- Background checks including 7 years residence/work history, SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and education verification
- Competency exams including medication/pharmacology test and unit competency exam
- Color blind testing (Ishihara exam or equivalent, 100% minimum score)
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific approved respirators required)
- Immunizations and health documents:
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) positive titers or 2 vaccines each (no declinations accepted)
- Varicella positive titer or 2 vaccines (no declinations accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- Drug screening (10 panel) within 12 months
- References: Minimum 2 from recent employment with appropriate supervisory titles
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Completion of mandatory RRT modules prior to orientation (21 modules, deadline Friday before start)
Important Notes
- Indiana RNs are restricted from starting new contracts after 9/9/2024 for most units except Periop/OR, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers
- Floating between units and hospitals may be required
- Education verification and background checks must be completed and cleared prior to start
