Job Opportunity: RRT PICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)
Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Shift: 3x12-hour shifts, every other week (EOW) required
- Primarily assigned to Labor & Delivery (L&D) with required L&D experience
- Floating between PICU, NICU, and Pediatrics units; may also float to another hospital within the system
- Must have experience in a Children's Hospital within the last 3 years or experience at a level 1 adult facility
- Minimum 2 years PICU experience required
- Home unit assignment will be NICU, PICU, or Pediatrics but may change based on facility needs
Required Qualifications
- Indiana State Respiratory Therapist License (IN state license required; temporary license accepted if application submitted for full license)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- BLS (AHA only, RQI acceptable)
- NBRC RRT
- NRP (required if placed in L&D; can be obtained after offer)
- PALS certification preferred
- Education must be accredited by CoARC and regionally accredited by CHEA
- Must have L&D experience
- Children's hospital experience within the last 3 years required
- PICU experience: minimum 2 years
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required (First Time Travelers Accepted)
Unit Information
- Experience required in NICU or PICU
- Floating between NICU, PICU, and Pediatrics units expected
- May float to IU Health North Hospital
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start date
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators approved)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers required:
- Rubeola (Measles) – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Mumps – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Rubella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Varicella – positive titer or 2 vaccines required (history not accepted)
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
Background & Documentation
- Background check within 90 days of start, including 7 years of residence/work history, criminal, sex offender, and other checks
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification and official transcripts/diplomas required
- Skills checklist within 12 months and annually thereafter
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment (within 2 years) with appropriate supervisory titles
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
Additional Notes
- IU Health will not allow Indiana RNs to work at their facilities after 11/30/24, except for Periop/OR RN’s, Allied, and Ambulatory RN travelers (not applicable to this RRT role)
- Mandatory completion of IU Health RRT modules prior to orientation (21 modules, deadline Friday before start)
- HIPAA and facility-specific compliance forms required prior to start
