Travel Registered Nurse - Home Health

Location: Georgetown, Delaware
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Provide, coordinate, and direct home nursing care according to physician orders and agency policies.
  • Supervise and evaluate Home Health Aides and Licensed Practical Nurses/Licensed Vocational Nurses.
  • Average patient load: 5-8 patients per day (5-10 patients assigned daily, equating to roughly 6-8 points).
  • Types of cases include Start of Care, Wound Care, Follow-up Visits, etc.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 75 miles from home clinic; compensated for travel between patient homes (commute to/from first and last patient not billable).
  • Schedule typically Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm; weekend rotation and on-call requirements vary and should be discussed during interview.
  • Use of EMR systems: PointClickCare and OASIS documentation required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Delaware.
  • Minimum 1 year of recent Home Health experience within the last year.
  • Experience working with adult patients in a Home Health setting.
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Proficiency with OASIS documentation.

Additional Requirements

  • Must have agency-required liability insurance and personal or auto insurance policy under candidate's name or list candidate as a driver.
  • Physical exam within 12 months prior to start, confirming good health and free from communicable disease; must be updated annually.
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months, updated annually, with no pending results at start.
  • Immunization or titer proof for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella as per standard requirements.
  • 10-panel drug screen required.
  • Proof of COVID vaccination series or documented declination required.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or facility-specific declination documentation required.
  • Two professional references required.
  • Verification of work history for at least the last 7 years or two most recent employers.

Travel Experience

Work Environment & Other Details

  • Dress code: Scrubs.
  • No guaranteed hours; if patient census is low, contractor may be floated to nearby clinics to pick up hours.
  • Some positions may have a Baylor shift schedule (4x10s, Friday-Monday), but most are standard 5x8 Monday-Friday.
  • Weekend and on-call requirements vary by location and should be clarified during interview.
