Description

Job Opportunity: RRT - Respiratory Therapy

Location: Alexandria, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel (Full Time)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Responsible for pulmonary care of critical, non-critical, and chronically ill adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients under physician direction with minimal supervision. Performs patient assessments and respiratory care plans, including technical and diagnostic respiratory therapy procedures throughout the hospital.


Work Schedule

  • Dayshift: 7 AM – 7 PM
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • No on-call required
  • No floating between locations

Patient Population

  • Primarily adult patients

Responsibilities

  • Emergency response (Code Blue and White)
  • Airway management (nasotracheal & endotracheal suctioning)
  • Delivery of aerosolized drugs
  • Ventilator setup and management
  • Oral hygiene and airway device maintenance
  • Management of BiPAP and CPAP devices
  • Oxygen delivery and therapeutic monitoring
  • Chest film analysis
  • Blood gas collection and analysis
  • EKG analysis
  • Documentation and equipment maintenance
  • Participation in CAP and JC surveys
  • May serve as Shift Leader or Team Leader

Advanced skills may include:

  • Therapeutic gas management (INO, HeO2)
  • Pulmonary Function Testing
  • Bronchoscopy assistance
  • Hemodynamic monitoring and waveform analysis
  • Nocturnal SpO2 evaluation (Desaturation Studies)
  • Polysomnography
  • Patient transport duties

Required Qualifications

  • License: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required
  • State License: RT or RCP license in Louisiana required
  • Certifications: BLS certification via AHA required
  • Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in respiratory therapy required (use 3 years as the requirement)

  • Temp-to-perm possibility
  • No prior travel experience explicitly required

This position offers a comprehensive role in respiratory therapy with opportunities for leadership and advanced practice skills in a full-time travel assignment.
