Job Opportunity: Medical Technologist (Laboratory)

Location: Washington, District Of Columbia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

Shift: 5 days a week, 8 hours per day (07:00 - 15:30)
Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
Float Requirement: None

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum 2 years in hospital clinical laboratory
Specialty Experience:
- Experience with CellaVision, Roche Cobas, Siemens Dimensions
- Blood specimen storage, hazardous materials handling, MSDS knowledge
- Proper disposal, labeling, and quality assurance protocols
- Knowledge of immunology/serology (C3, C4, total Complement)
- Pregnancy testing (urine or blood), rapid test kits
- Controls, RPR (rapid plasma reagin)
- Hematology/coagulation knowledge
- Urinalysis (manual macroscopic and microscopic UA)
Certification: ASCP or ASCP-MLS certification highly preferred
Prior Travel Experience: Successful completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment required
Vaccination: Flu vaccination required for all travelers

Required Licenses & Certifications

Valid state license for Medical Technologist (Laboratory) discipline
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA or ARC)

Additional Requirements

Criminal background check within 90 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
Drug screen within 90 days of start (excluding marijuana)
Immunization and health documentation including:
- Annual physical exam confirming ability to work without accommodations and free from communicable disease
- N95 fit test within 9 months of start (updated annually)
- TB test (IGRA or PPD) within 1 year, updated annually
- Documentation of MMR, Hepatitis B, Varicella, and other required immunizations or titers
Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Sept-Mar)
Completion of facility-specific modules and orientation prior to start

References & Work History

Two positive supervisory references supporting at least 2 years of experience within the last 3 years
Complete 7 years of work history with no gaps, including education and license information
