Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)

Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract

Position Details

  • Shift: 3x12 hour shifts, Nights (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-call: No
  • Floating: Yes, within scope to like units/sister facilities
  • Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level III Trauma
  • Total Staffed Beds: 286
  • Charting System: Epic

Required Qualifications

  • License: South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be in hand prior to start
  • Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required
    • NIH Stroke Certification preferred
  • Competencies: Telemetry competency required
  • Additional Preferred:
    • Previous charge nurse experience
    • Community hospital experience

Schedule & Work Conditions

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts of 12 hours each
  • Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
  • Block Schedule: Approval can be requested but not guaranteed
  • Local Candidates: Accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November (peak in August-September)

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering last 7 years of residence/employment
    • SSN Trace, Statewide, National Criminal, Sex Offender Registry, FACIS 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG
  • Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder)
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active and unencumbered
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start
  • Health Requirements:
    • Physical exam updated annually
    • Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days) or chest x-ray if prior positive
    • Proof of immunity or vaccination for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B
    • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
    • COVID vaccination highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
    • Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
  • Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
  • Color Blind Testing: Required prior to start
  • Photo for Badge: Passport-style photo with solid light background, business casual attire

  • First-time travelers accepted
  • Facility uses Epic for charting
  • Facility parking is free
  • Travelers must complete orientation modules prior to start (approx. 4-6 hours)
  • Travelers must upload vaccination records and complete all required documentation before orientation
  • Radiation badge required only for specific departments (not applicable for this RN role)
