Job Opportunity: MS/Tele Registered Nurse (RN)
Location: Orangeburg, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Position Details
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (MS/Tele)
- Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM), Days
- Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call: No
- Floating: Yes, within scope to like units or sister facilities
- First-time travelers: Accepted
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty (Medical-Surgical/Telemetry)
- License: South Carolina RN license or Compact RN license must be active and in hand prior to start
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA certification required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA certification required
- NIH Stroke Certification preferred
- Competencies: Telemetry competency required
- Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience and community hospital experience

Scheduling & Work Conditions
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Block schedule accommodation possible but not guaranteed
- Local candidates considered on a case-by-case basis
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Valid SC RN license verification (primary source verification required)
- Background checks including:
- 7-year work/living history
- SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, FACIS 3
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
- Education verification or diploma/transcripts as placeholder
- Drug screening: 10-panel urine drug screen within 90 days of start
- Physical exam: Initial and annual attestation of ability to meet physical demands
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap within 10 years or declination form
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series required; boosters if low titer
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
- Flu vaccine required during flu season (Aug 1 - Apr 30) or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
- TB testing: T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; annual TB questionnaire required
- COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; if declined, must complete vaccination declination form
- Respirator medical clearance annually (RespSafety questionnaire)
- Color blindness testing prior to start
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam required
- Facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions must be completed prior to start
- Clear, passport-style badge photo required before start
Additional Notes
- Hurricane season (June-November) may require emergency response team participation; avoid confirming new or extension contracts during peak months (Aug-Sept) if this is a concern
- Radiation badge required only for specific departments (not applicable for this MS/Tele RN role)
- Facility uses Epic for charting and requires compliance with all facility-specific policies and procedures
This position is ideal for RNs with at least 2 years of MS/Telemetry experience who hold a valid SC or Compact RN license, possess required certifications, and are comfortable working in a Level III Trauma acute care hospital setting. Prior travel experience is not required.
