Travel/Contract ICU Registered Nurse

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Parking: Permit required, no cost

Required Experience & Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year ICU experience required
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required (first-timers accepted)
• Weekend Requirement: Work every other weekend
• On-call: Yes
• Floating: Travelers may float within scope to other ICUs (Medical, Neuro, Cardiac), IMC, and general floors on modified teams if needed
• License: Active Illinois RN license required (no pending licenses accepted)

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or RQI acceptable
• NIHSS, TNCC, and TNS preferred but not required

Additional Requirements

• Background Checks: Comprehensive background checks required within 30 days of start, including SSN trace, criminal, sex offender, and federal exclusions
• Education Verification: Initial degree verification required
• Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates
• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, must confirm good physical and mental health, free of communicable disease, and ability to perform job functions without restrictions
• Fit Mask Test: Required prior to start (specific mask types accepted)
• TB Testing: 2-step PPD, TSPOT, or Qgold within 1 year of start; chest x-ray required if positive test
• Immunizations: Documentation or proof of immunity required for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
• Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
• Flu Vaccination: Required or approved medical/religious exemption for 2025-26 season
• References: Two professional references required
• Photo for Badge: Color photo required before start

Work Environment & Notes

• Travelers are the first to float off the unit if needed
• Locals accepted with no radius restrictions
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions ideally no more than 5 days
• Guaranteed hours with some client call-off allowances

This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 1 year of experience looking for a travel contract in a Level I trauma, Magnet-recognized acute care hospital. Prior travel experience is not required, and first-time travelers are welcome.
