Travel/Contract Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
Location: Quincy, Illinois
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Nights with every other weekend
- Target Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:5 - 1:6 (occasionally 1:7)
- Float as needed
- Hours: 36 or 48 hours per week (to be specified)
- Block scheduling can be partially accommodated
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Illinois RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA preferred)
- Stroke certification (NIH Stroke Certification required and must be updated annually)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification (AHA only, required for certain units)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) preferred for ER, PICU, PEDI, PACU
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) required for LD, Antepartum, Postpartum, NICU, Nursery
- Chemotherapy certification strongly preferred (not required) for Oncology
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) strongly preferred (not required) for ER
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Illinois
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum of 1 year of Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
- BLS issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification or competency
Health & Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 30 days of start, stating fitness to work without restrictions
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
- Up-to-date immunizations or titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (titer, declination, or vaccine series)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccination proof required prior to start
- 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start, repeated annually (no rapid results)
- N95 Fit Test within 12 months of start (specific approved mask models)
Competency & Training Requirements
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (minimum 80% or Angoff score)
- Unit-specific competency exam
- Core training parts I, II, III (annual update required)
- OSHA mandatory training (annual update required)
- Color blindness test required for all travelers
Additional Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (2 forms required)
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, SSN trace, sex offender registry, education verification
- Emergency contact form
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgments to be completed prior to start (e.g., safety information, code of conduct, confidentiality agreements)
- References: At least 2 recent professional references within 3 years

- This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week assignment length.
- Night shifts with every other weekend required.
