Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Covington, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit Details

• Experience required in General, GYN, ENT, Urology, Orthopedics
• Robotics experience preferred
• RNs serve as 2nd RN in PACU to assist PACU RN after hours and on weekends
• OR RNs are not required to recover PACU patients
• May float to Endoscopy to assist with procedures occasionally
• Weekend shifts included in call requirements
• Call schedule: 1-2 weeknights per week and 3-4 twelve-hour weekend shifts per 6 weeks
• Floating within facility/scope of practice as needed

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of specialty experience
• First-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience NOT required)

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
• Perioperative nursing experience
• Experience as OR Circulate RN
• Experience as OR Scrub RN
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Orientation

• Full compliance with all requirements is mandatory to start on time
• Orientation hours vary based on contract length (e.g., 12 weeks = 12 hours orientation)
• Must work major holidays if they fall within assignment period (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Day, New Year’s Eve/Day)

Health & Background Requirements

• Background check required within 30 days of start, including education verification
• Physical exam within 12 months of start
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with additional requirements if prior positive)
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
  • Varicella
  • Hepatitis B (titer or declination)
  • Tdap (highly recommended)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start

Competency Exams

• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required
• Color blind testing required
• Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for certain units (e.g., Telemetry, ICU)

Additional Notes

• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Must review and sign facility-specific policies such as Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
• References and skills checklist required by agency (not client)

This position offers a dynamic OR nursing role with opportunities to assist in PACU and Endoscopy, suitable for RNs with at least 2 years of experience and no prior travel contract required.
