Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Med/Tele, Nights)

Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Responsible for overall nursing practice on the unit during assigned shifts, reporting to Unit Manager or designated nursing leadership.
  • Provide professional nursing care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Participate in patient care coordination, quality improvement activities, and professional development.
  • Engage in ethical nursing practice, patient advocacy, and collaboration with patients, families, and healthcare providers.
  • Participate in out-of-facility patient transport as needed.

Essential Functions

  • Collect and analyze patient health data to determine nursing diagnoses.
  • Develop individualized, measurable patient care plans with expected outcomes.
  • Implement nursing interventions consistent with care plans.
  • Evaluate patient progress and revise care plans accordingly.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain current nursing knowledge and clinical competencies, including Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (HCP BLS) certification.
  • Contribute to the professional development of peers and support clinical education.
  • Practice nursing ethically, maintaining patient confidentiality and advocating for patient rights.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Use research findings to inform nursing practice and policy development.
  • Consider safety, effectiveness, and cost in patient care planning and delivery.
  • Demonstrate leadership by prioritizing and delegating patient care activities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with EPIC patient charting system is preferred.

Required Qualifications

  • Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Pennsylvania.
  • Specialty: Medical/Surgical and Telemetry nursing.
  • Minimum years of specialty experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard RN competency.
  • Prior travel experience: Not required.

Work Schedule

  • Night shift: 7 PM to 7 AM

Additional Notes

  • Must complete and maintain Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (HCP BLS) certification within four months of probation end.
