Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Abilene, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Position: Charge RN (ICU)
  • Specialty: ICU / MS patient flow
  • Patient Ratios: Up to 1:5 at highest acuity
  • Weekend Scheduling: Every other weekend (EOW)
  • Facility Type: LTACH (Long-Term Acute Care Hospital)
  • Local candidates allowed with same pay as travelers

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including experience within the last year
  • Intermediate Care experience
  • ACLS certification issued by American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or United States Department of Defense
  • BLS certification issued by American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience in a Long Term Acute Care (LTACH) setting
  • Prior experience in Charge Nurse roles

Additional Requirements

  • Ability to manage ICU patient flow and staffing ratios
  • Compliance with background checks including:
    • 7-year criminal background check
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG screenings
    • Texas Employee Misconduct Registry
  • Health and Safety:
    • Physical exam verifying ability to meet job demands
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • Required immunizations or titers: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
    • Drug screening (9 or 10 panel depending on timing)
  • Documentation:
    • Proof of I9 or attestation
    • Government issued photo ID
    • E-Verify proof or attestation
    • Clinical references (2 required)
    • Skills checklist updated annually
    • Performance evaluations if applicable
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology testing as applicable

Notes

  • This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week duration.
  • First-time travelers are allowed.
  • The role requires strong ICU clinical skills and charge nurse leadership experience.
  • Weekend shifts are scheduled every other weekend.

This position is ideal for experienced ICU RNs looking for a travel contract in Texas with leadership responsibilities in a LTACH setting.
