Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Dededo, Guam
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Overview

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (RN) – Emergency Department (ED)
  • Facility Type: Acute Care, Adult Level II Trauma Center
  • Total Staffed Beds: 132
  • Employment Type: Travel/Contract
  • Shift: Primarily one shift (day or night) assigned; no shift preference requests allowed
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend, flexibility required
  • Holidays: Working on holidays is mandatory; dates determined by unit needs
  • Locals: Candidates residing in Guam are not eligible
  • Passport: Current U.S. passport required (Canadian passports not accepted)

Required Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in specialty (Emergency Department)

Required Licensure & Certifications

  • Must have RN license with Compact or Guam licensure in hand at time of application (pending licenses not accepted)
  • Certifications required (must have valid digital certificates; printed or screenshots not accepted):
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider card only
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA provider card only
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA provider card only
    • Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Advanced NRP required for ER
    • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification – Required for RNs
    • Conscious Sedation Training – Required for ER (online course; fee not covered)
    • Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Training – Required for ER prior to start
  • Additional facility-specific mandatory trainings and competencies:
    • Pressure Injury Training (NDNQI)
    • Alaris IV Pumps Certification
    • Pyxis CareFusion Certification
    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Drug Calculations and Basic Knowledge Assessment Tool (BKAT) exams (on-site testing during orientation)

Additional Requirements

  • Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 3 consecutive days off and max 7 days off during the 13-week contract
  • Travelers must be prepared to pick up additional shifts as needed due to census fluctuations
  • Flights are not reimbursed; candidates should plan accordingly
  • Candidates should plan to arrive at least the day before the start date due to long flight times and time zone differences
  • Fit Mask Test: Must be completed within 1 year prior to start; specific mask types required (3M 1860/1860s, 1804/1804s, 1870+)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year prior to start (with annual TB questionnaire if applicable)
  • Immunizations and Titers required:
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella – Proof of immunity or vaccination required
    • Hepatitis B – Immune titer or full vaccine series required
    • Varicella – Positive titer or proof of vaccination required
    • Seasonal Flu Vaccine – Mandatory during flu season (Sept 1 – June 30); medical exemptions considered with facility form
    • COVID-19 Vaccine – Strongly preferred; declination requires facility-specific waiver form
  • Background Check: 7-year criminal background check required within 1 year prior to start; international checks if applicable
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year prior to start (facility does not require but Aya does)
  • Drug Screen: 9-panel instant drug screen within 30 days of start; not required annually but must be current at start
  • Work History Verification: Must verify last 10 years of employment

Notes

  • Overtime is at management discretion and not guaranteed
  • Scrub color: Navy blue preferred; any solid color acceptable for scrubs and jackets
